Major exhilaration coming through: my dad actually got us BROADBAND. Woah! The dark ages are a thing of the past. Oh I love the internet. You know, I used to bemoan its existence. But now it is simply amazing. Of course, having broadband doesn't automatically mean that I'm an internet junkie (but I absolutely see how that's possible)...
But I watched my first youtube video a couple of days ago, I'm reading people's blogs, I can CHAT. Oh sweet nectar of... I think there should be ten muses, instead of nine. I shall create one of my own: THE MUSE OF THE INTERNET. I can't think of a witty name for her just yet - if any of you have strokes of genius (the only good kind of stroke), please tell me.
Life is good.
But it does seem ironic how I'm praising the glory of technology... on Pioneer Day. Well, you can't appreciate the past without the present. But how in this age of comfort can we really appreciate the sacrifices of our forbears? Hmmm... We're going to roast hotdogs over our firepit tonight. Does that count? Maybe not, but it's at least a nod (however slight) to the hardships of the past.
Let's just say I'm grateful for what they've done, but that I could never do what they have done. My glass is raised to the pioneers!
